Focus on Efficiency and Flexibility: MAAG Group Presents Technological Innovations at Fakuma 2026

MAAG Group, a manufacturer of processing systems for the plastics industry, will present new solutions for polymer processing at this year’s Fakuma in Friedrichshafen, Germany. From October 12 to 16, 2026, the company will showcase exhibits aimed at higher process reliability, energy savings, and flexibility in Hall A6, Booth 6202.

With the extrex EC, MAAG presents the first gear pump specifically designed for the continuous conveying of rigid PVC (polyvinyl chloride). The new development addresses the thermal sensitivity of the material through a gap-free design without dead spaces. This effectively prevents the material from sticking and stagnating in the pump, which significantly reduces thermal stress and counteracts the risk of degradation.

The uniform, pressure-stable conveying relieves the extruder during operation. Depending on the application, this allows either material throughput to be increased or, at a constant throughput, energy savings of up to 50% to be achieved in the extruder. In addition, the design enables optimized temperature control in the melt process. Since this lowers the thermal stress on the material, the use of expensive stabilizers can be partially reduced, representing a direct economic advantage for the processor.

As another exhibit, MAAG is showing the field-proven PRIMO 60 E strand pelletizer. This machine was designed for the flexible processing of a wide variety of polymers. It is aimed particularly at manufacturers of masterbatch and compounds, as well as processors of specialty polymers, whose daily production routine includes frequent product changes, smaller batches, and varying material properties.

Fast cleaning, easy accessibility, and short tool-change times were the primary focus during design. Product Manager Alexander Helm explains the approach: “In masterbatch and compound production today, maximum throughput is not the only factor that determines cost-effectiveness. It is equally important how quickly a system is ready for production again after a product changeover. With the PRIMO 60 E, we offer users a flexible pelletizer tailored precisely to these requirements.”

Fast Sample Inspection with the PURITY CONCEPT V

In addition to the conveying systems, MAAG Group will present the PURITY CONCEPT V offline testing system from SIKORA at the booth. The system is used for random sampling and analyzing pellets, flakes, and test plates. Using an optical camera, it detects contamination such as black or colored specks and discoloration from a size of 50 µm. The analysis takes less than a minute and directly delivers a test certificate and an HSV color map of the detected color deviations, contributing to the assurance of product quality.
